Step into the captivating world of art and interior design as we introduce you to Bea, the founder of Bea Bea Art Studio. Bea's artwork has recently been featured in two of Dubai's Top 50 Homes, each project a testament to her talent and the ability of art to transform spaces.

In this interview, we will unravel Bea's artistic journey, explore her distinctive style, and discover the beauty that unfolds at the intersection of art and interior design.

Can you tell us about your background as an artist and why you decided to establish your art studio in Dubai?

Before moving to Dubai, I worked as a Digital Illustrator. I created illustrations for kid’s books and applications - working with authors and publishers across the world. But, I discovered that creating in a more classic way - with paint, brushes and all its mess was much more satisfying, much more authentic.

I haven’t given up digital art though. I often make digital sketches and painting ideas for my clients before I start working with real materials.

I decided to move to Dubai as it’s a city of great opportunities. People here admire art like nowhere else. Art is demanded by many interior designers and homeowners who want to create unique spaces and incorporate their own sense of style into them.

Art is a perfect way to add personality and character to an interior. That's why people are looking for one-of-a-kind art pieces, that is the reason I decided to start my art career here.

How would you describe your artistic style and how does it complement the overall aesthetic of luxury homes?

It’s a difficult question to answer, as my art style constantly evolves. The style of each piece depends on the style of the interior that they are going to be created for. Before I start working on a particular piece or collection I need to understand the design project and see the real interior. It helps me to come up with the best ideas that would go with the aesthetic of the interior.

Nevertheless, I would list a few characteristic elements of my style: abstract vibe, minimalism, texture, natural or monochromatic colour palette, and big sizes.

What role do you believe art plays in enhancing the overall ambience of a home?

Art brings the interior to life. It adds personality and character to any space and sets the mood of your home through the choice of style, colour palette and texture.

Various studies have shown that being surrounded by art has a positive impact on our mental health, and that's why finding the perfect artwork for your home is so important.

Are there any particular materials, techniques, or themes that you frequently incorporate into your artwork?

I love to work with abstract creations which give endless possibilities for expressing the character of the whole interior design. Abstract artwork will perfectly fit both - the classic and modern style of home.

One of the characteristic elements of my art is the texture. I like to use it to bring more depth and interest into each art piece. Also, local houses are very spacious and have huge potential to create stunning art galleries. So, I like to create large art pieces that become a focal point of the interior.

Can you share any memorable experiences or challenges you've encountered while working on art installations for a home?

Often, the challenges are related to the size of my paintings. Some of them are more than 2-3 meters high. This made it quite difficult to deliver and install them in homes where the door was not big enough! That’s why for one project I needed to create a painting on site, where it had to be stretched and framed as well.

My other unusual experience was when I was creating a set of paintings where I decided to use 24k gold leaf. Because there was the possibility that they could be damaged during framing or delivery, I had to attach these elements in my client’s home. It was an interesting experience for me and my clients to share the creation process with them within their home.

Your artwork has recently been featured in two of Dubai’s Top 50 Homes. Could you tell us more about those projects?

I couldn't be more proud and happy about the fact that my art is a part of such stunning homes! Both homes and art collections were created with totally different styles, so the two projects couldn’t be more different from each other. One is very minimalistic and highly modern, the other elegant and multisensory.

The first art collection was created in a very minimalistic and monochromatic style for a stunning villa in Nad Al Sheba - designed by the talented Anu Kewalram.

The second one was a moody landscape with a range of greys and greens, with elements of golden leaf. I had the pleasure to create this for Caroline Labouchere and her amazing duplex in Jumeirah Heights.

Both projects have a special place in my heart and both make me invariably happy.

Homes in Dubai are ever-evolving. Are there any emerging trends or design concepts that you believe will shape the future of art in luxury interiors?

I think the style is entirely subjective, but from my experience working on so numerous local interior design projects in the UAE, I would suggest looking at abstract artwork that provides a stunning focal point, contemporary landscapes to bring the peaceful beauty of nature indoors or textural art, that adds a rich and interesting dimension to each interior.
